FALL SEASON and your HAIR CARE  2024

Fall, what you need to know when temperatures drop. What changes do you need to make with your hair care routine?

Cooler temperatures, wind, and cool damp rainy days can be challenging for both your hair and your skin. It's may also be the time to pull out your hair dryer once again.

First, check your hairdryer look for signs of overheating, this can be as simple as checking the filter on the back of the dryer. Check for lint as this can choke the motor and cause overheating, or hot spots which can burn your hair, scalp and your brushes bristles. Next look for signs of a brittle twisted cord, cuts, and or loose cord, these can be hazardous. WHY, as they may cause over heating, smoke or just stop working. This is a sign to replace your dryer.

What about your hairbrushes, check to see if you have damaged burnt bristles or broken nylon bristle which may break or tear the hair and scratch your scalp.

Don't forget to clean your brushes of hair and product build up to make them work more efficiently.

We suggest a combination of natural boar and nylon mix bristles for styling and grooming for all hair types.

Natural Boar bristles can be conditioned with your conditioner if you are having difficulty controlling STATIC just like your

hair apply conditioner to damped bristles leave on for 2 to3 minutes then rinse.

Now it’s time to look at both your shampoo and conditioner. What you used in the summer will not be as effective in the Fall season. Look for shampoos with Hydrating properties which work well on finer hair. They will not add weight or make the hair limp plus provide some hydration plus reduce static. Volume shampoos' which worked well in the summer with humidity tend to be drying this season due to cooler weather. They can dehydrate your hair and leave finer hair lifeless and fly away.

If you have drier coarser hair a shampoo with Moisturizing properties will soften the hair. They contain oils which help hydrate coarser thicker hair making it more manageable, feel and look healthier and shiny.

Remember there are TWO types of moisture, one Water being lighter weight and one Oil being heavier. Choosing the right one will give you more manageable hair.

Put away that summer leave-in conditioner as it only coats the surface, and you may still have flyaway hair. Leave in conditions are appropriate this time of year. They only coat the surface if the hair and you may still have flyaway and static. Look for a rinse out conditioners which are more effective. The label should state Hydrating for fine hair. They tend to have less weight leaving your hair with body and volume and are ideal for fine soft curls.

If your hair is drier and coarser textured, you should look for a conditioners that focus on MOISTURIZING properties. Argan or Jojoba oils will give you the extra moisture your hair needs. Your hair will be more manageable, softer, flexible with added shine.

During the colder months a weekly treatment is recommended/ A RECONSTRUCTOR both strengthens with proteins and adds moisture in the hair.  The more moisture and protein your hair can hold creates a perfect balance for fine fragile hair. This is even more important if you’re bleaching or using high lift color formulas and are using hot irons for curling or straightening.

Thicker coarser hair will benefit from a treatment high in moisture with ingredients like Coconut and Jojoba oils and lower in protein strengthening properties. To achieve frizz free, lustrous, softer manageable hair. In most cases the same applies for thicker unruly textured hair types. Usually, the tighter the curl the more moisturizing oils are required.

So, as the temperature drops and your skin care and fashion needs change so should your hair care regime.
